About the Luke 4:10 Foundation

Luke 4:10

Why Luke 4:10?

The unexpected tragedy that fuels us to create lasting change.

Hi, my name is Gloria Herrin. I’m the Founder of The Luke 4:10 Foundation.

Throughout the last few years, I’ve watched as our nation faced lawlessness and hate for law enforcement. It broke my heart to see such vitriol aimed directly at our officers, who sacrifice so much to keep our great nation safe.

And as the rest of the world seemed to turn to chaos in 2020, my world completely shattered. On August 5th at 4:10 PM, our son, Luther “Luke” Herrin Smith was stillborn at 30 weeks.

The grief that I’ve experienced after the loss of my son has been overwhelming. But it’s also lit a fire inside me to turn this deep sadness into something meaningful: to restore the narrative that our law enforcement are heroes, not villains.

Luke 4:10, in honor of our son, was a verse that inspired me to begin this journey.

It is the perfect picture of our law enforcement and armed forces who guard and protect us, especially during these trying times as a nation.

It is truly the greatest sign of honor and nobility to put aside oneself to protect and serve.

I want to ensure our law enforcement and armed forces are always surrounded with encouragement and gratitude from their communities and know that they are revered and respected, but most of all loved and appreciated.

Protecting American Values. Serving Those Who Serve Us.

We know that you want to protect the values of freedom, justice and peace in America. In order to do that, you need our communities to be strong and safe for everyone.

But there’s a problem: a culture of mistrust and disrespect for our dedicated law enforcement has put our values at risk.

Without vital support from the people they serve, you fear for the future of your community and our nation. We think that’s just plain wrong. We believe that police officers should get the appreciation they deserve for the sacrificial work they do every day.

As Charlotte area residents and parents, we understand that a safe community relies on the people who serve us selflessly. That’s why The Luke 4:10 Foundation exists. Through our Donor Advised Fund, we help you support your local law enforcement in real, tangible ways.

Give now so that you can stop worrying about the future of our community and our nation; and instead, feel confident in your support for our local law enforcement.
